Transparency starts with an honest baseline. Today the counter reads exactly zero.
- Zero hours recovered.
- Zero customers.
- Zero revenue.
- Zero social media posts.
- Zero following.
- …and this blog post.
No inflated launch metrics. No artificial traction. No vanity screenshots. Just zero. And that is exactly where every serious venture begins.
What Zero Really Means
Zero does not mean absence of capability, it means a new scoreboard backed by real, battle tested experience.
- 14 years, 3 months and 23 days each running a successful digital agency
- More than 400 real world projects delivered
- Over a decade integrating systems together
This is not theoretical knowledge, it is delivery under commercial pressure, real deadlines, demanding clients and full revenue responsibility, the kind of experience that compounds into sharper skills, stronger judgement and refined pattern recognition. Zero reflects the venture itself, not the capability behind it.
What We’re Going to Share (Publicly)
From day one, Swarm Labs will operate with radical transparency. We will publish:
- Enquiry overviews
- Project summaries
- Integrations
- Consultancy breakdowns
- Hours saved (updated on a public ledger)
- What we’re actively exploring and testing (the wins and the experiments that didn’t land)
Real work. Real numbers. Real outcomes. No gatekeeping. No smoke and mirrors. No nonsense.
If we recover 17 hours, you’ll see 17 hours.
If we misjudge a solution, we will say so. If a workflow does not need AI, we will not force it in.
Starting at zero means there is nothing to defend, no legacy positioning to maintain, no inflated perception to protect. It gives us the freedom to build this properly, in public, and to let the results speak for themselves.
A Shift in Mindset
In our previous venture, we spent years gatekeeping knowledge. Within a traditional agency model, that made commercial sense. Insight was packaged, retained and delivered behind closed doors. As of today, that approach changes.
Swarm Labs will operate openly, sharing our thinking, processes, outcomes and, where relevant, the mistakes. If our mission is to recover 1 million hours of human effort, transparency is not optional, it is strategic. Open thinking scales faster than closed delivery, and shared insight compounds impact beyond individual engagements.
A Reality Check on AI
A lot of “AI companies” promise the world and imply they’ll automate everything down to your bathroom breaks. The reality (for those of us who’ve been in business for more than a minute) is far simpler and more practical.
From experience, much of what gets called an “AI Agent” is actually disciplined workflow engineering. What most businesses actually need is:
- A clearly mapped process
- A sensible integration between systems
- Removal of duplicated manual effort
AI absolutely has its place, and we use it where it creates genuine, measurable leverage. But disciplined systems design often delivers more value than hype driven tooling. Much of what is branded as an AI breakthrough is simply well structured process engineering.
There is also a governance reality that cannot be ignored. In the UK and EU in particular, introducing AI driven systems without clear data protection and compliance controls can create unnecessary risk. Automation should reduce operational exposure, not expand it.
Our focus is outcome first, technology second. We deploy AI where it is justified, defensible and commercially sensible. Everything else is systems thinking.
Life Only Makes Sense in Reverse
It is one of my favourite sayings because it reframes everything that led to this moment.
When you look backwards properly, the path rarely feels random. The successes. The failures, including the epic ones. The risks. The difficult conversations. The projects that stretched us, and the ones that did not land. All of it compounds. Fourteen plus years building websites was never just about websites. It was about systems, bottlenecks, inefficiencies and the hidden cost of manual effort. Over a decade of real world integrations reinforced the same lesson repeatedly.
- Most businesses are not constrained by ambition.
- They are constrained by time and inefficiencies.
For me and my business partner, this is the convergence point. Everything we have learned points in the same direction. Time is the asset being wasted at scale. That is why Swarm Labs exists.
- Not to chase hype.
- Not to label every workflow an “AI agent.”
- Not to promise full automation of your organisation.
Our commitment is simpler and more disciplined:
- Structured systems thinking
- Intelligent automation where it creates genuine leverage
- Clear, public measurement of hours recovered
- Full accountability
Zero Is Not a Weakness – It’s a Starting Line 🏁
We are excited to share this journey openly, including the work, the experiments, the wins and the lessons.
If you would like to be part of our initial goal of recovering 1 million hours, join us.
Today the counter reads 0 hours recovered.
Now we begin!
